RVY team information

If you are thinking about getting involved with RVY we'd love to hear from you. We are always looking for people to join the team. We need volunteers for all three streams of RVY. We have a recruitment process for all volunteers to ensure that the young people and the volunteers are safe.

Our procedure is as follows: -

- Application form

- Interview

- DBS check

If you are then accepted on to the team we will then train you in the following areas: -

- Safeguarding

- Health and safety (appropriate to the stream you are joining)

- RVY youth work principles, policies and procedures.

Continuous team development:

We believe that volunteering is not just about giving but also about your development. We organise a termly (3 times a year) full RVY team get together where we have fellowship, review the terms work, have youth work training and spend time in prayer and worship. The termly get togethers are not compulsory, we understand that as volunteers your lives are busy with other commitments, but we do ask that you make the effort to attend at least once a year.

What do we give you?

When you first join the team you will be on a 6 month trial, we don't want anyone to join and then feel it's not for them but feel that they can not step away. During this time you will be under the guidance of someone in your stream who has been in the team for longer. You will receive a RVY Polo shirt to wear when on duty this is so that you are identifiable to young people, parents, other team members and the wider community, along with a RVY volunteer ID. You will also receive a RVY team handbook which will help you as you start and continue in the team. You will have a monthly check-in with your stream leader to see how you're getting on and to help you through any concerns, stream leaders are available any time for help and support as well.

After 6 months.

If you are staying on after your first 6 months you will swap your polo-shirt for one with your first name on it. You will also receive a photo ID and lanyard to be worn when on duty. As time goes on you may decide that you want to change streams or add another stream to your time, this is possible once we have given you the training for the new stream.

During the year there are various conferences put on by other youth organisations that we try and attend the whole team is welcome to attend together. Conferences are always a good way for us to grow individually and as a team as well have some time to just re-charge.
